The MBSR course stands for Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and has proven to be extremely effective in reducing stress and preventing burnout.

And the best part? The MBSR course only lasts 8 weeks and the positive effects seem to still be present even after 2.5 years [1].

  •  Within 8 weeks (2.5 hours per week and one meditation day of 6 hours) we practice accepting the present moment without judgment. We discover our behavioral patterns and gain the freedom to decide whether we want to continue practicing them. We learn to observe stress and our automatic reaction to it in everyday life. This brings us closer and closer to behaving towards stress instead of automatically reacting to it.

    The fact that high blood pressure can be reduced with the MBSR course shows once again how inseparable the mind and body are. For the sake of simplicity, however, we will include it in the "mind" section of Proacting [2].

    The meta-analysis by Hu et al [4] shows once again how the body is inseparable from the mind: physical activity appears to achieve a significant reduction in depressive symptoms. Interestingly, there are also indications that low-intensity training helps just as well as high-intensity training.


    Nevertheless, for the sake of simplicity, we classify personal training as part of the “body” division of Proacting.
